The Government has placed a legal obligation on employers to provide a COVID safe workplace for their employees. Employees and/or customers have been encouraged to report companies that they feel do not comply.
Some employers have experienced reluctancy from employees and customers to return to the workplace due to COVID concerns, for themselves and their families. A poll carried out by People Management found that 54% of employees expressed concern about returning to the workplace.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) 80% of positive COVID-19 infections are mild or Asymptomatic which exposes employers to significant risk of cross infection amongst the workforce for people that are unaware they have the virus.
Independent privately funded testing is expensive as a one off. High Street pharmacies are selling testing at between £100- £150 per test, which makes it cost prohibitive for most employers to do on a weekly basis. The test only tells you whether the sample is positive at the time of the test.
The cost of sick pay and loss of productivity whilst someone is waiting for a test and results is significant for employers.
COVID safe workplaces are likely to be required for the longer term, even allowing for a vaccine, most people at working age are unlikely to be vaccinated in the near future unless they have underlying medical issues.

SMRT:Monitor™ provide a secure web based portal for employers, and a simple to operate mobile app (available from both apple and google stores) that captures test data from the home testing kits provided.
The app processes the test and updates the employer portal to inform the employer of compliance for the individual, team or company in real-time.
The app will send automated reminders to employees if they fail to submit tests or results
The employer portal will notify designated employees within the organisation if an employee tests positive immediately on receipt of the positive submission.
Employers have the option to pay staff for the tests and set up an employer determined payment per test, per result or for a completed cycle which can then be run per pay period again user defined.
