Whilst the introduction of weekly COVID-19 testing for Social Care providers has been a welcome initiative in the fight against COVID-19, it has created a number of significant challenges for employers and providers already burdened by increased workloads with limited resources.

  •  What systems can be used to notify a dispersed workforce that stocks have arrived;
  • What systems can be used to monitor the distribution of test kits to ensure the workforce has received the right number of kits, and a system to follow those that haven’t;
  • What systems can be used to monitor that tests have been completed and by which members of staff and to chase up outstanding tests results;
  • What systems can be used to track overall compliance and adherence to the testing requirements;
  •  How will providers remind / encourage staff to take the tests on a regular basis and track their compliance; 
  •  A lack of visibility as to who has taken a test, submitted a test, and more importantly received the outcome of the test as this information is directly between the lab and the employee;
  •  Test results are currently sent directly to the employee, and it is up to the employee to determine if they share the results with the employer, leaving the employer unable to implement any risk management for positive cases, which may also be asymptomatic;
  •  If tests are mandated by the employer, national minimum wage regulations may apply as it is classed as a work activity, if so they must pay the employee for the working time.

Smrtlinks:Monitor™ provide a secure web based portal for employers, and a simple to operate mobile app (available from both apple and google stores) that captures test data from the home testing kits provided.The app processes the test and updates the employer portal to inform the employer of compliance for the individual, team or company in real-time.

The app will send automated reminders to employees if they fail to submit tests or results

The employer portal will notify designated employees within the organisation if an employee tests positive immediately on receipt of the positive submission.

Employers have the option to pay staff for the tests and set up an employer determined payment per test, per result or for a completed cycle which can then be run per pay period again user defined.
